We are excited to announce that Deb Woodbury (pictured on the left) was nominated for the Indiana Association for Home and Hospice Care (IAHHC) award! Deb is an eight-year veteran with Angels Senior Home Solutions, and her hard work, compassion, and kindness are what her clients love most about her. As a mom herself in addition to being an Angels caregiver (and caregiver for her own mother), Deb knows how to care for others and put them first. Below is some more information about the IAHHC, this award, and why Deb is such a great candidate!
The IAHHC represents all types of home care: traditional home health and nursing services like Angels, hospice care (both home-based and inpatient), and private duty home care. Their mission is “to advance the cause of home care and hospice through leadership, collaboration, advocacy, and education.” Like Angels, the IAHHC is client- and family-centered, compassionate, honest, and respectful in all home care situations.
This award was named in memory of Cheryl Atwood, an Indianapolis nurse who was killed while walking from her car to a patient’s home. Although her life ended tragically, her legacy did not. Family, friends, and clients alike continued to remember Cheryl for her love and concern for patients as well as her dedication to nursing.
The IAHHC Cheryl Atwood Caregiver Award is presented each year to a volunteer or paid caregiver who:
Deb has been a Certified Nurses Aide (CNA) since she was 43 years old. She then came into homecare and became a Home Health Aide. With a big smile and even bigger heart, Deb’s quiet confidence and kindness makes her clients feel safe in her care. As her clients say, “There is nothing Deb can’t do!”
Deb has also been a caregiver during her own health challenges the past couple of years. She has had perfect attendance as a caregiver even while undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatments. Just as Cheryl Atwood gave of herself and made the ultimate sacrifice for her clients, Deb makes her own sacrifices every day, especially through these trials. She really believes in putting others first, even on days when she herself is not feeling well, because her clients are her number one priority.
Thanks again for all you do, Deb! Because of you, Angels Senior Home Solution has become a better, more loving place, and our clients know that they can trust us. Keep up the great work!
